Beyond the storm

I have been working on the subject of people since 2000, and since 2008, I have been working on the process of playing music based on the emotional empathy and compassion that comes from life and the theme of human life (life is like playing instrument). .During the intense heat last summer, I naturally developed a desire to work with water. Water is a part of nature, the source of life, and a constituent of living things. As humans use water to sustain life, water is a human resource. It has a huge impact on life. Water has temporality through its moving and changing physical properties. Water exerts enormous power through the kinetic force of its volume and mass. In addition, water plays a direct role in changing and destroying nature, thereby acting metaphorically on the human mind. Examples of metaphors include 'time flows like water' and 'personality is like water'. The movement of water is aliveness. I focused on the nature of water that moves as a part of nature.

In expressing water, which is part of the body and nature, I used my hands, which are part of the body. For a long time, I lacked emotional satisfaction in expressing my inner self through painting with a brush tool. So I used two fists, fingers, the palm, and the edge of the palm. I used ink, acrylic paint, water, and white paint by mixing various materials to express the feeling of water.

Hand (Finger) painting is a means of immediately conveying emotions and provides psychological pleasure through changes in tactile sensation depending on the movement of the hand and the concentration of paint. In addition, hands are very useful in expressing the flow and collision of water. The concentration of paint is suitable for expressing physical properties, and the strength and speed of the hand are suitable for expressing flow. This hand (finger) painting expresses the changes in the water before and after the storm begins. The flow of water chunks in the water and I tried to express the mixing, the rising and breaking of water, the crashing of water chunks with different strengths, water sparks, other flows on top of the flow (2 dimensions), and the peacefulness and quiet of calm water.

Water changes into different colors according to its various appearances. Through these changes, water continues to take on new colors and create new situations. This is the same as the history of life on this earth. The various colors and shapes of these water are reflected in human beings. It is also similar to the emotional changes that occur in the mind. Many human emotions, such as anger and peace, joy and sadness, worry and relief, have their own colors depending on time and situation, and are like a psychological flow in the human mind, like the shape of water. It acts as a metaphor. I metaphorically expressed the human mind and the appearance of water through this hand painting. This work was very interesting and helped me a lot to get through the hot summer.
